Don't delay your credit union's succession planning! Starting January 1, 2026, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) will implement its new succession planning rule. This rule strengthens succession planning requirements for all federally insured credit unions (FICUs), mandating that each board of directors develop a written succession plan outlining key positions and essential details. In addition, the board of directors must regularly review the succession plan to ensure its effectiveness.
