关于我们
Early Edge California is a nonprofit organization working to advance policy changes and investments that will expand access to high-quality Early Learning and Care programs. Our work is guided by the vision that all children birth to age 8 should receive high-quality, racially, ethnically, linguistically, and culturally responsive early education, enter Kindergarten ready to learn, and thrive through 3rd grade and beyond. Since 2003, Early Edge has been a leader in Early Learning and Care policy in California, advocating for: high-quality universal preschool (including Transitional Kindergarten); an asset-based approach to identifying and supporting Dual Language Learners (DLLs); promoting investment in the professional development, training, and compensation of Early Learning and Care teachers and caregivers; supporting informal care providers, such as Family, Friend, and Neighbors (FFNs); and expanded access to care for infants and toddlers. Our policy priorities are informed by those community and stakeholder voices most impacted.

California has a proud history of being a progressive leader and a great place for families–but as many families with young children currently struggle to access #childcare, every community across our state feels the effects. While over 2 million children qualify for subsidized care, the state only funds enough spaces for 11% of those children to have access. If we continue to underinvest in child care, fewer and fewer families will be able to live, learn, and work in California long-term which hurts its communities and the economy. Child care isn’t just for kids, it’s for California. Learn more about our vision for #infant and #toddler child care in California. A message from Early Edge California's Executive Director, Patricia Lozano: As we process the recent election results, I want to reaffirm our commitment to providing the best start for young children, especially children of color, their families, and the educators who work with them here in California. Our dedication to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and multilingual educational environment remains firm. Now more than ever, we must work together on championing diverse learning experiences, and empowering children and families from all backgrounds to thrive. The challenges we face may shift, but our mission endures. Let's keep moving forward, united by our shared vision.
