Families, early childhood professionals, and advocates from across Michigan gathered at the State Capitol on March 12 for the third annual Early Childhood Capitol Day. Advocates called on lawmakers to prioritize the needs of the state’s youngest children and families in the FY26 budget. ECIC is proud to share the release of a report highlighting the positive impacts of the Early Care and Education Wage Pilot Case Study, in partnership with Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential and TalentFirst. Investing in early childhood educators improves staffing, quality of care, and affordability of care for Michigan families. Read more below.
MiLEAP and partner organizations Early Childhood Investment Corporation and TalentFirst released a report today highlighting the positive impacts of a pilot program to increase wages for child care professionals in order to improve child care access and affordability for Michigan families. MiLEAP will launch a second wage scale pilot, building on insights from the first report to improve and strengthen support for the child care workforce, in the near future.
