A Thanksgiving Message from Eagle Protect: Protecting Every Gathering, Protecting Every Plate This Thanksgiving, we gather with family and friends to share not only food but moments we hope will become treasured memories. We are reminded that each meal shared is an opportunity to celebrate togetherness and tradition, and we want these gatherings to be remembered for all the right reasons—not marred by food safety failures. At Eagle Protect, we know that safe meals don’t just happen by chance. They’re the result of the dedication and diligence of those in the food industry—individuals who put in Herculean effort behind the scenes to ensure each plate is safe. From farmers to food processors, from chefs to kitchen staff, each person plays a vital role in creating a safe meal for families everywhere. This year, let’s honor the responsibility that comes with food preparation and gathering. Whether it’s a small dinner with close friends or a large feast with family from far and wide, our highest priority is safety. Regardless of culture or tradition, a feast of any size must be first and foremost a safe one. As you gather to give thanks, let’s also appreciate those who work tirelessly to uphold the standards that keep our food safe. Their commitment to protecting every plate ensures that we can create the memories we cherish without worry. Eagle Protect is honored to support these efforts, providing food handling gloves that represent a promise of safety for all. This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for the people, the diligence, and the dedication that make each gathering a safe one. We are committed to protecting future generations by keeping safety at the heart of every meal. Here’s to a season filled with joy, tradition, and, above all, safety. #EagleProtect #FoodSafety #qualityassurance #haccp #foodprocessing

It is the time of year when we often get told to "Get back to me in Q1!" We are happy to do that - but I think it was Dr. Darin who said it first. Pathogens don't take holidays. He also said (yes I am a fanboy!) "What is the cost of doing nothing?" For 15 years more or less, Boars Head did nothing by all accounts. And for 15 years the cost was nothing - until it wasn't. Then, the cost of doing nothing was deadly and expensive! Enjoy the Thanksgiving Break but do remember that the (potentially) deadly enemy is working 24/7! #foodsafety #PPE #Nitrilegloves #thanksgiving #listeria

If there was ever a thought the US public was beginning to trust the food industry - forget it! To be honest, why would they after reading this article? https://lnkd.in/gxiYvTcT I am reminded of Dr. Darin Detwiler, LP.D. and his "Cost of doing nothing," story when I read this line in the article. "Upper management said, ‘We’re Boar’s Head. We’ve been doing this for years, and it’s always been okay..." The cost of doing nothing at Boars Head was nothing for years - until it wasn't. It is a long read, but the lack of transparency, cooperation, and even any real care is very disturbing. My company has approached all of these companies over the years encouraging them to use US-tested food safe gloves... I now can see why our communications fell on (food safety) deaf ears. They are hardly going to worry about gloves when you read: "During a June 1, 2024, inspection, a USDA agent saw black mold in a room where meat was cured. On June 10, there was “heavy meat buildup” on the walls of one room, “approximately 15–20 flies” in a vat of pickling solution, and a “steady line of ants” entering through the cracked door of the next room over. On June 26, there were “whitish, discolored muscles of meat lying near the trash compactor with flies surrounding them.” I see many good people here Francine Shaw, CP-FS, FMP, Matt Regusci, Dr D, Bryan Armentrout, Cori Muse, Frank Yiannas M.P.H. (and many more) trying their hardest to lift the focus on food safety culture. Reading this must be a gut punch! We must do better!

Could we have done better? A recent deadly foodborne illness outbreak has given us at Eagle Protect a lot to reflect on. While gloves were highly unlikely to be the direct cause of the FBI in this case, we’ve seen time and again how a company’s choice of gloves can reflect its overall commitment to food safety. The company involved in this outbreak had previously used Eagle gloves but later switched to a “cheaper option.” This decision highlights a broader industry challenge: viewing food safety as an expense rather than an investment. Gloves are more than just tools of the trade—they are symbols of the food safety culture. In our view, a company’s choice to invest in high-quality, independently tested gloves sends a powerful message to its workers, customers, and regulators about its dedication to safety. At Eagle Protect, we’re constantly asking ourselves: How can we tell this story better? How can we help companies recognize that investing in food safety—starting with something as fundamental as fit for purpose gloves—isn’t optional, but essential? We are a company too, so we understand the constant need to look at reducing costs. But understanding the potential ramifications of those decisions is always critical. Food safety isn’t a cost to cut; it’s a commitment to uphold.
