Life Through Their Eyes: Faith - "I never really got what family and home were all about. I thought everything I experienced was just normal stuff that all kids went through, and I believed my parents were doing their best. When I was taken away from my home, I felt really angry and confused. The first few months at Eagle Village were tough for me. I didn’t say a word for the first two weeks and wouldn’t join in any activities. I even made things harder by walking out of school every day and yelling at my therapists and the staff. But they didn’t give up on me, and slowly I started to see that they were there to help. I really appreciated the one-on-one time with my therapist and the staff. It made me feel listened to, and I could focus on healing and understanding why I was there. They helped me learn how to manage my anger and stay calm when I felt overwhelmed. My grades improved in school, except for math. I know I’m smart, but math just isn’t my thing! I started joining in on programs and activities, and I actually had a good time. I even smiled a bit! When I reached certain goals, I got to go on a trip to a waterpark! I had never been to one before, and it was amazing! I definitely want to go back!
