10 EA employees participated in a meaningful OpenStreetMap Map-A-Thon. Our team contributed to the humanitarian effort in response to the civil war in Sudan by generating accurate geospatial building footprints. Focused on Al-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur State, we volunteered our time and expertise to map 13,500 square meters of the city, updating nearly 900 building outlines. The data we generated will play a crucial role in aiding emergency response and resource planning efforts for the city. A huge thank you to all our participants! #HumanitarianAid #OpenStreetMap #Mapathon #CivilWar #Sudan #CommunityImpact #Volunteering #EA

Happy World Engineering Day! Today, we are thrilled to highlight the incredible efforts of our engineers at the Hunt Valley office through our SAME Day with an Engineer event. Our team curated an array of activities for students, all centered around the fictional Blue Swan Project. Throughout the day, they explored various critical areas, including permitting regulations, CAD topography, site characterization, wildlife and human health impacts, data analysis, laboratory analysis, cost estimations, environmental monitoring and remediation, and plume modeling. Participants then presented their findings to their "client." Each activity was led by our seasoned EA professionals specializing in these fields. A special shoutout goes to our Jensen Fellows for their dedicated leadership in guiding the students throughout this enriching experience. #WorldEngineeringDay #EngineeringExcellence #SAMEngineerDay #EnvironmentalScience #STEMEducation #EngineeringStudents #InnovativeLearning #ProfessionalGuidance #InteractiveLearning #EAProfessionals

As we celebrate the fourth day of E-Week, we are thrilled to spotlight two accomplished female engineers in honor of #GirlDay2025, inspiring girls to envision a future where they too can shape the world through engineering. Meet EA Engineer Faran Vahedian, Ph.D. and EA Engineer and Project Manager Kritika Thapa. Faran, a graduate of Colorado School of Mines with a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, brings 10 years of experience in hydrogeology, fieldwork, numerical modeling, and water resources management. Her expertise focuses on the fate and transport of PFAS (forever chemicals) in both unsaturated and saturated media, integrating advanced data analysis and modeling techniques using Python. Her work supports environmental monitoring, groundwater remediation, and sustainable water management strategies, contributing to innovative solutions for complex environmental challenges. Kritika holds an M.S. in Environmental Resources Engineering with a focus on Water Resources Engineering from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry and a B.A. in Environmental Science with a concentration in chemistry and a minor in mathematics from Wesleyan College. With 13 years of professional experience, including over 9 years with EA, Kritika has been involved in a diverse array of environmental projects for federal, state, and private clients. Her experience spans remedial design, remedial investigation and feasibility studies of contaminated sites, construction oversight of remedial actions, and long-term monitoring of remediation systems. Prior to EA, she served as a project manager and emission modeler at Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), where she worked on air quality projects to help Texas meet National Ambient Air Quality Standards. Her experience also includes addressing extreme weather events such as atmospheric rivers, stream restoration, and assessing flood events and water quality. Kritika is also adept at managing tasks that require coordination and communication among multiple stakeholders. Let’s celebrate engineers like Faran and Kritika, whose dedication and expertise drive progress in environmental engineering! #Eweek2025 #DesignYourFuture #EngineersWeek #PFASResearch #EnvironmentalEngineering #WaterResources #Innovation #STEMLeaders #GirlDay2025
