E4 Youth

We are at a pivotal point in our collective history at both a macro and micro level. Post Reconstruction, Black Austin encompassed much of what is now downtown Austin westward to Mopac, much of UTs West Campus, and Clarksville. One developer, Eureka Holdings, now owns 70% of the real estate that comprised the six square mile district that Black folks were required to live in as result of the city's 1928 plan. Much of our work with E4 Youth is about preserving this history while building pathways for BIPOC people to thrive culturally and economically. This is why we launched the mixed reality storytelling platform What Once Was (WOW). We train college-aged youth to work with the community to capture oral histories and use VR, AR and AI tools to create experiences based on key locations throughout the city. https://lnkd.in/gmYNaAi8
