Sad yet not totally unexpected news that Landmark Theatres' E Street Cinema in Washington D.C. is closing soon. Unfortunately, like many movies theaters, it never regained most of its audience post Covid, and because of low foot traffic downtown. As someone who used to frequent that theater often, it's a sad day. I think these days, most independent arthouses, to remain, likely should adopt a non-profit model that includes funding and offering memberships. It's also a reminder to everyone to support your local independent theater, by actually seeing a movie there instead of streaming at home. #indiecinema #movies https://lnkd.in/e8md94_t

Interesting to see MUBI start its own movie theater ticket subscription program. Similar to A24 and its membership offerings that include a free movie ticket. Right now MUBI Go is only available in major U.S. cities. Is it a rival to MoviePass? Or perhaps only something diehard MUBI fans will take advantage of? We'll see. https://mubi.com/en/us/go

Once again a lot of post-Sundance thought pieces are circulating, mostly about what's next for the festival, and especially documentaries struggling to gain traditional distribution deals.
