In celebration of Women in Construction Week, we are proud to highlight Alicia McLaughlin, President of Waterline Industries Corporation - a 100% employee-owned company and a long-time EJC client.   Alicia’s inspiring journey in construction began when she became the first in her family to attend college. While working to fund her education, she honed her networking skills, which led to her first job in construction as a clerk. From there, she steadily advanced to construction manager, even traveling to projects in New York with her young son. As a single mother, she sought a role closer to home and joined Waterline Industries as a project management assistant. Over the years, she gained experience in procurement and project management, established a project coordination department, and ultimately became Vice President of Operations. When the time came, she stepped up as President of the company.   Alicia is passionate about every phase of a construction project. “𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞.” She also values the connections built along the way. “𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐢𝐧.”   Her advice to women in construction: “𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲.
