At Radiate Social Impact, we're glad to be part of a local chapter of E Pluribus Unum who is participating in the cross-sectoral #collaborations across the City of Richmond, Virginia working toward #racialjustice and #racialhealing. Their Truth & Healing Initiative is helping to identify and connect community members and organizations across the #AmericanSouth with the aim of bolstering efforts toward #racialequity. Just hours after the 2024 election, Black Americans across the U.S. were shaken by a disturbing wave of racist text messages, claiming they’d been “selected” to report to “the nearest plantation.” These messages targeted people of all ages, from high school students to adults, in states from #Alabama to #NewYork. Civil rights organizations, including the NAACP, and federal authorities are now investigating this surge in hateful rhetoric. As the #NAACP emphasizes, "There is no place for hate in a democracy." It starts with us. This #AmericaRecyclesDay, we’re reminded that a healthy community begins with a clean environment. #UnumFellow and Birmingham City Councilor Clinton P. Woods has taken bold steps to help transform #Alabama into a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable place to live. Working alongside other local leaders, Clinton has helped close access to an illegal dumping site, directing waste to designated areas and promoting proper recycling. Let’s follow their example by doing our part. After much dedication, our #UnumAlliance partners, The St. Charles Center for Faith + Action teamed up with #SolitaryGardens and their local community to unveil their Solitary Garden! This unique garden, designed to replicate the size of a solitary confinement cell, serves as a reminder of the struggles faced by those impacted by the system. The food and flowers grown within this space will also serve as symbols of hope and reflection.
