When I was undergoing my undergraduate Law Program at the University, I had the privilege of serving in notable leadership capacities. I was the first female in the University’s history to serve as the President of the Student Body, I also served actively in the Law Students’ Association. I leveraged these platforms to organize events. I would invite resource persons and guests from all walks of life to educate the university community on diverse topics. Interesting times. It has only been two years after and by God’s grace, I have now had the privilege of being the invitee and no longer the “inviter.” It’s truly an honour. Earlier today, I represented Nigeria’s foremost Media and Public Relations company for lawyers, law firms and law organizations, E-Lawyer Nigeria, at a panel session at Baze University Law Clinic’s Conference in celebration of the students’ Annual Law Week. The theme of the conference was “Access to Justice For All” and I spoke extensively about E-Lawyer Nigeria’s efforts in honing the future keyplayers and actors who will ensure access to justice in their time. I thoroughly enjoyed the session and I was thrilled to have shared a platform with exceptional resource persons and representatives from various national and international organizations. I thank E-Lawyer Nigeria for entrusting me to represent the team and BAZE LAW CLINIC ABUJA for hosting an exceptional and thoroughly educative conference. I look forward to more speaking engagements in the near future.

On October 18th and 22nd 2024, I had the privilege of attending the E-Lawyer Nigeria Career Fair at Baze University, Abuja. The event featured many inspiring speakers who shared their success stories, emphasizing the importance of finding a niche and pursuing it relentlessly. Despite their different paths in Law, they all shared a common trait which is a vision and goals they never gave up on. This highlights that trial and error is part of the journey, it shouldn't dampen our enthusiasm instead, it should encourage us to strategize and keep moving forward. The emphasis on networking underscored its pivotal role in our growth, and the practical exercise of “know your neighbor” helped me connect with many wonderful individuals. We received valuable tips on how to draft a well-crafted CV, including the dos and don’ts of creating an effective CV. Additionally, we played a lucky dip game, and I won a book on law and technologies. At E-Lawyer, everyone is a winner! The theme of the event was to innovate, inspire, and impact the future of law, and I can confidently say it was truly innovative, inspiring and impactful for we the future of law. I would like to express my gratitude to the visionary behind E-Lawyer, Mina O., as well as all the esteemed speakers. I didn't like my course initially, yet I graduated with a 4.0 CGPA. During my first year, when asked why I chose to study law, my answer was always, "I don't know." I sought God's guidance on His purpose for my course, but I never truly understood it. In my second year, I felt lost and struggled to find my footing. However, in my third year, I met people, including Victory Ufedojo Okoliko, who became my study partner. I finally fell in love with law. In my third year, I achieved a first-class GPA of 4.91 and began interning with various law firms. Eventually, I secured a position with E-Lawyer Nigeria, which helped me realize that law is much more than just courtrooms; it is diverse and special in its way. I'm grateful that my experiences shaped my results, and I learned valuable lessons each year while I was in school. #law #career #legalpractice

Yesterday, I was present at E-LAWYER Carrier Fair Day, held at Baze University, Abuja. The program was designed to engage, educate, inform and expose young lawyers and students to the diverse spectrum of the legal profession, emerging fields and subfields; and globally inclusive areas of practice. For me, the Session on Renewable Energy, Entrepreneurship and Creative Industry were the major highlight from the event. As an energy law enthusiast, I was very much fascinated with the session handled by Cephas Caleb, Partner ALN Nigeria/ Aluko & Oyebode on 'Sustainable Energy'. He spoke about solutions to resolving the issue of global warming as a result of carbon emissions emanating from the burning of fuels. Particularly, suggesting that certain strategies, installations and developments should be employed towards curbing the effects of carbon emissions in contrast to totally embracing compressed natural gas as an emerging alternative to cary fuel in the energy sector. His basis for this interesting opinion was that Nigeria is handsomely blessed with the petroleum resource which is incapable of exhausting in the longest future. He also stressed as a supporting argument that Petroleum is the Backbone of Nigeria's Economy. (Which I chose to interpret as Nigeria's Life support at the moment). Regardless of this strong opinion, I still hold the view that Compressed Natural Gas is a better alternative to carbon fuels and strongly support that it should become adopted in Nigeria, better now than later when it will become actively cartelized by major countries in the global oligopoly. Simply put, the whole argument of supplementing systems to reduce carbon emissions in contrast to embracing Compressed Natural Gas is a clear case of managing a disease when there's a cure. Furthermore, another interesting thing I took from the Carrier Fair was the Panel session with O. J. Wada where he talked about his journey towards building one of the most internationally recognized legal apparel industry, Solohan &Co he mentioned that as a legal entrepreneur, it's always a difficult task to balance practice and Entrepreneurship. Hence why one must prioritize a thing over the other while seeking balance. In other words, just as the saying goes, "you can't serve two masters at a time." Mr William Umoh Esq., a creative lawyer in Entertainment Law, also exposed the opportunities available for young lawyers in the creative industry. Social media has come to stay, we might as well make good use of it in the legal profession. The event was brought to a successful end with two powerful words from O.J. Wada during his interview by the founder of E-Lawyer, Barr Mina Atambi, "Delayed Gratification". As law students and lawyers in equity, we must focus on the later goals and promising life prospects as we put off frivolous, myopic and short-term enjoyment at the expense of our future. Thank you E-Lawyer for this wonderful opportunity.
