The average cost of a cyber security incident in the public sector is $2.6 million – from repairs to ransom payments and legal fees – according to a 2023 IBM report on the cost of data breaches in the U.S. To help municipal leaders, school districts and higher education administration, fire and police agencies, and IT professionals working with public entities stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends and threats, the Dutchess County Office of Central and Information Services (OCIS), in partnership with Marist College, will host its third Hudson Valley Cyber Security Summit, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Marist College Student Center and is free to attend for those working in or with the public sector.
