    The success of the James Webb Space Telescope is exemplified by the stunning and revealing images it has delivered to astronomers since its launch in December 2021. The mission also stands as one of Dynavac’s proudest accomplishments, having contributed to the upgrade of several thermal vacuum chambers to support the testing of the spacecraft and its instruments. The hallmark of Dynavac’s participation was the mission-critical challenge of upgrading the historic Chamber A at Johnson Space Center (yes, the same one used for Apollo spacecraft testing!) to achieve unprecedented deep-space temperature conditions. The goal? Creating and maintaining temperatures as low as -423°F (20K) in a 45ft in diameter and 65ft high test envelope inside the massive chamber. Highlights: ?Dynavac manufactured and installed one of the world's largest helium cryogenic shroud systems. ?The chamber comprised of multiple 12ft wide x 40ft long aluminum shroud panels coated with a specialized high optical absorptivity/emissivity black paint. ?To install the panels in Chamber A, Dynavac welders performed more than 7,000 critical welds, each of which successfully passed x-ray inspection. ?Met NASA's exacting space flight standards throughout development and testing.
