Big news coming from South of the Border today with Solvento announcing their Series A led by our friends at COMETA. Congrats to Jaime, Pedro, Guillermo, and team! It's been a privilege for the team at Dynamo Ventures and I to be on this journey since leading their pre-seed round in 2021. Back then, nearshoring was simply an idea few were evaluating in order to diversify risk away in their supply chain. In 2024, its dinner table conversation against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions and changing sentiment amongst citizens. For such a future to manifest itself, credit access is the single limiter of growth for both Mexico and the broader Latin American supply chain. I bore witness to these statements over and over when visiting Mexico earlier this year and had the opportunity to speak with truckers and brokers, first hand. ???Preparations are in full swing as businesses anticipate potential shifts in supply chains under President-elect Donald Trump. While a cooling of ties with China seems likely, the degree to which US manufacturing can bridge the gap — alongside countries like Mexico and Vietnam — remains uncertain. Amongst the industries greatly impacted by these shifts is the US automotive sector. In parallel, automakers are adjusting to a more bearish electric vehicle outlook as the tax credits that once made EVs more affordable for consumers head to the chopping block.
