It’s National Apprenticeship Week! ?? At Dwyer Workforce Development, we’re proud to create accessible pathways to healthcare careers. In partnership with Houston Community College, we're now offering a pre-apprenticeship program—Texas’ first virtual, free pre-apprenticeship in healthcare. This program is a key part of our commitment to help individuals ‘earn while they learn,’ preparing them for careers as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN). Thanks to a $312,000 grant, our pre-apprenticeship program provides essential support, including career counseling, mentorship, and resources like childcare, transportation, and housing assistance. This free, self-paced online program runs eight weeks for CNAs and six weeks for LVNs, paving the way for students to transition into paid apprenticeships through the Gulf Coast Region Apprenticeship Hub. When each feels strongly, it’s easy to get stuck in a cycle of opposing views—straining relationships and impacting the quality of support everyone wants for their loved one.
