The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), which went into effect on January 1, 2024, was designed to combat financial crimes like money laundering and tax fraud. Under the CTA, “reporting companies” are required to disclose certain information about their “beneficial owners” to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, a bureau within the Treasury Department. While the future of non-compete provisions remains uncertain at the federal level, several states have already implemented their own restrictions, with increasing support from the courts. Recently, the Washington Supreme Court ruled that non-compete agreements preventing certain employees from moonlighting—or supplementing their income with additional work—are unenforceable, possibly even if the supplemental work results in competition. https://lnkd.in/gb65hiKx

Congratulations to Dvorak Law Group’s esteemed Law Clerk Gracie Rae Culp! Culp received the honor of induction into Alpha Sigma Nu, the International Jesuit Honor Society. This membership represents the highest distinction that Creighton University, or any Jesuit institution, can bestow upon a student. It acknowledges outstanding scholarship, commitment to service, and loyalty to Jesuit principles. To qualify for Alpha Sigma Nu, a student must not only rank in the top fifteen percent (15%) of their class and demonstrate loyalty and service but also receive a nomination for induction, which must be approved by the university's President.
