Align revolutionized their layout process with Dusty Robotics -- and their safety program! And what was good for Align's crews, was good for the bottom line too. "With employees no longer working on their hands and knees, we were able to eliminate a fatigue management plan and demonstrate reduced risk exposure," says David Donato, Director of Data Center Design and Construction. "We improved our safety program and were able to secure premium discounts in our workers’ comp insurance thanks to Dusty Robotics." https://lnkd.in/g_mXDzmb #automatedlayout #datacenterconstruction #missioncriticalconstruction #datacenters #datacenter #datacenterlayout

关于我们
Dusty Robotics is the best solution to ensure design integrity in the field through automated layout and a streamlined BIM-to-field process. Dusty delivers a combination of hardware, software, and services that fit seamlessly into existing construction work processes by printing digital models directly on the jobsite floor with 1/16" accuracy based directly on Revit or AutoCAD models. Dusty has enabled contractors to print over 100 million square feet of layout across thousands of buildings and is trusted by leading general contractors such as DPR, McCarthy, and Skanska as well as trade contractors in framing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.

Nearly two thirds of construction companies agree that schedule performance improves when trades take a strong role in coordination. If you're a framer, you're in a unique position to take that role, as you're traditionally one of the first trades to do your layout on the slab. Even when the GC is aligned to your #automatedlayout workflow, you need to be strategic about your process -- and your asks -- if you're going to use layout to deliver the kind of risk mitigation that will make you the GC's first call for the next project. This blog post gets tactical about what you need from the GC to maximize the potential of automated layout, including: - Access to the coordinated model or source-of-truth design files - Clear jobsite floors - Schedule sequencing for automated layout - Alignment with other trades https://bit.ly/3Z4ekev #FieldPrintPlatform #FieldPrinter2 #ConstructionCollaboration #Framing #SteelFraming #CommercialFraming #Walls #Ceilings

Our latest WorkRamp #awesomeacademy highlight is from Dusty Robotics! Based in Mountain View, Dusty Robotics is a leader in the robotic layout category and one of the coolest companies in construction tech. If you haven’t checked them out yet, you should! In customer education, half the battle is the marketing around your efforts. I’ve seen many companies pour resources into their coursework, only to leave marketing as an afterthought. Dusty Robotics didn’t make that mistake: They did four things really well to drive traffic and awareness: 1/ Prime placement on their primary website. 2/ A large launch on LinkedIn, with contributions from their executives. 3/ Investment in brand and custom imagery for their courses and academy. 4/ Encouraging new learners to create accounts on-the-fly, as an second option to SSO. Kudos to the Dusty Robotics team for leading the way! #customereducation #learning

The industry is shifting to automated multi-trade layout. As that happens, there's room in many organizations for a dedicated operator of automated layout solutions. Enter the #AutomatedLayoutTechnician -- a new role you may fill by looking internally to promising employees on a growth journey, or externally to people who offer a complimentary skillset to those already present on your team. Either way, we've distilled the learnings of our customers into this template job description to help you get started. https://bit.ly/4fEsGZw #autoamtedlayout #constructiontrends #workforcedevelopment

Thanks to Ryan Camer for this really insightful study. It's hard to prove the value of AVOIDED problems -- because those negative impacts were never actually felt. But in this study, Ryan and The Haskell Company took the time to estimate those impacts and demonstrated a 10X ROI on the VDC effort for this design-build food project. In our own market research conducted with Dodge Construction Network, we've found that another reason it's hard to prove ROI on VDC is that there's a gap between VDC and field execution. Even on projects with a robust, collaborative VDC process, the output gets stuck in the model. Meanwhile in the field, only 11% of field professionals say they always have access to the information they need to build. The result is that life in the field is dominated by confusion and disagreement, with nearly half of daily on-site interactions between companies having to do with conflict. That's a communication problem. The answers the field needs are in the model, but they can't get to that information. Mobile model viewers and construction management software aren't enough. Field teams can't put down their tools to squint at a tablet every time they need to consult the model. BIM-driven robots are the first technology poised to truly bridge the gap, because they bring information out of the digital model and onto the jobsite. That's what Dusty is doing when it prints the model at full-scale on the slab as construction layout. When multi-trade information is physical, visible to everybody at all times and without a device, and aligned to real space on the jobsite, the field can finally take full advantage of the output of the VDC process. https://bit.ly/3ARDe8U Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA)

Through our partnership with Dusty Robotics, we have been able to handle supply chain challenges more effectively, and create a safer work environment for our professionals. As a result, our teams complete projects on time, within budget, and with lower risk. Read the success story on the Dusty website for more!
Align uses Dusty to deliver defect-free data center builds, faster and safer. "The faster layout process, higher accuracy, reduced labor, and safer working conditions for our employees have been game-changers," says Simon Eventov, Managing Director of Data Center Design & Build. In fact, Align reduced their intensive layout schedule from a week with 20 people, to 1 day with 2 people thanks to Dusty -- a savings of 784 person-hours! But the real value showed up in the field execution that followed layout. Align used Dusty to print layout for multiple trades at once, which meant the trades were better coordinated and could be seamlessly stacked on-site. And the project stayed more resilient to supply chain challenges, because layout was so accurate that work could proceed around delayed equipment without fear of problems later. https://lnkd.in/g_mXDzmb #automatedlayout #datacenterconstruction #missioncriticalconstruction #datacenters #datacenter #datacenterlayout

Trades are nearly twice as likely as GCs to experience profit erosion due to poor coordination. That's why trades like framers are often the first members of the project team to adopt automated layout. But when you get the GC aligned to your process, you'll be able to do even more to pull actionable information out of the model and onto the jobsite, where everybody can benefit from it. And even better, you'll position your company as a high-value partner. Our latest blog post dives into how automated layout by framers helps the GC mitigate project risk, including: - Reducing risk of project defects, errors, and omissions - Reducing schedule risk - Increasing communication between trades and visibility needed to coordinate work https://bit.ly/4fMxbl7 #FieldPrintPlatform #FieldPrinter2 #ConstructionCollaboration #Framing #SteelFraming #CommercialFraming #Walls #Ceilings

"A more frictionless flow of information among the multitude of players is critical to better coordinate the complex building process. Ultimately, though, building is a physical activity," writes David Rotman in this MIT Technology Review article. Well said! We all know that digitization has been good for construction. So why isn't it showing up in industry productivity? Because the industry's product is NOT DIGITAL. At the end of the day, we must pull all that digital insight back into the real world and onto the jobsite. That's why David interviewed Dusty founder and CEO Tessa Lau in this article. Dusty is a robotic #automatedlayout technology that bridges the gap between the digital model and execution in the field. By printing the model at full-scale on the jobsite floor, Dusty makes the richness of the model available to everybody on the jobsite at all times -- without a device. https://lnkd.in/etDpckCy #futureofconstruction #constructiontrends #VDCtoField #BIMtoField #ConstructionCollaboration #AutomatedLayout
