These credentials further solidify The Durable Teams commitment to excellence in safety and professionalism in historic preservation and roofing. Achieving these certifications represents a significant milestone for both Joe & Durable. The CSP certification is a widely recognized standard that underscores Joe’s expertise and qualifications in safety management. Historically, this level of credential was secured through third-party consultants to meet specific safety requirements. Now, with Joe’s CSP certification, The Durable Group brings this expertise in-house, enhancing the company’s internal capabilities and reducing dependency on external consultants for high-level safety guidance. The CHST certification, specifically focused on construction health and safety, also provides new advantages for the organization. The Durable Group has seen growing interest from general contractors in having CHST-certified professionals on staff. With this credential, Joe positions the company to meet these industry expectations head-on, allowing Durable to stand out in competitive bids by having a certified CHST on board. Congratulations to the fantastic Durable Team!! Our Old General Land Office Building project was awarded by Preservation Austin for our excellence in restoration! Built in 1856, it's the oldest office building in the state of Texas, and it's used as the Texas Capitol Visitors Center. Julie Butler and Caden Glenn went down to Austin for the ceremony! This project involved the removal of the roof and gutter system. Then, we installed a new deck, North Country Black slate roof with 20 and 24 ounce copper flashings and gutters. Here are a few pictures from the project. Ice damming occurs when snow accumulates on the roof and is then melted by heat loss from inside the home and/or direct sunlight. This melting water then proceeds toward the eaves where it refreezes, creating an ice dam at the edges of the roof and along the gutters. With the ongoing freeze and then thaw, ice and snow begin to buildup on the edge of the roof and cannot drain away. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) tapped us to represent the United States in the International Federation For The Roofing Trade (IFD) Young Roofer's World Championship held in Innsbruck, Austria next week. John Chan and Gary Howes, the heads of The Durable Slate Company, just returned from the National Slate Association's annual conference in Charleston, South Carolina. John spoke about slate roofing, while they both enjoyed city tours and gained valuable insights into the industry, including updates on slate and historic roofing. The conference featured dynamic seminars filled with energy and new ideas.
