The DET has always been at the forefront of online testing security, and the legitimacy of the test is crucial for institutions that rely on it to make decisions about higher education admissions; for some employment and visa applications; and for the legitimate users whose livelihoods rely on certifying their English proficiency. ?? Our Head of Test Security, Basim Baig, said it best: "By teaming up with Sumsub, we’re combining two cutting-edge security systems with distinct core competencies to enhance our defenses. We remain committed to maintaining the highest security standards, which ultimately protects the interests of both our test-takers and the institutions that rely on our test results."
Duolingo English Test + Sumsub = Fraudsters crying in all languages ?? Fraudsters thought they were fluent in deception. They were wrong. Sumsub is teaming up with Duolingo English Test (DET) to make online exams even safer. Because while some users are busy practicing English, others are busy practicing identity fraud, deepfakes, and fake documents. But DET is always one step ahead. And now, with Sumsub’s AI-powered verification, fraudsters will be failing the test before they even start: ? Deepfake? Nope. Liveness checks in action. ? Fake IDs? Try again. AI-powered document verification. ? Fraud rings? Busted. Network detection on point. Legitimate test-takers, you’re good to go. Fraudsters, you might want to start learning a new career path. #Duolingo #DET Duolingo #Verification

A big thank you to everyone who joined the Duolingo English Test in Leeds for our sustainability dinner. It was great to come together with northern universities to discuss how we can balance global engagement with a commitment to sustainability in international recruitment?? We were delighted to be joined by Dr. Kevin Mac Gabhann, who shared his experience as a founding member of CANIE: Climate Action Network for International Educators. Will Archer presented the preliminary results from an upcoming International Education Sustainability Group (IESG) report in partnership with Duolingo, which compares the carbon impact of digital vs. traditional in-person testing. Alex Sobel MP concluded the evening with his thoughts on net zero and the importance of the “three pillars of British soft power: The BBC, The British Council and British Universities”. It was a privilege to be part of such an important conversation. We’re looking forward to taking this discussion on tour - let us know if your university would like to be involved!! #Sustainability #InternationalEducation #GreenFuture #intled

Why did we sponsor a play featuring the TOEFL? ?? Good question! ENGLISH is a Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy that explores themes of language learning, identity, and barriers to education—and we’re proud to be part of this conversation. During the show's final run, we hosted a panel at Roundabout Theatre Company! Moderated by Jennifer Dewar and featuring playwright Sanaz Toossi, Duolingo University Access Scholars Asadullah Azimi, Zabihullah Alimee, and Raashid Amiri from Georgetown University, and Lorcia Matondo from Wheaton College Massachusetts, the panel discussed the role of English as a barrier and a bridge to opportunity.
