“Here lies Blue Ghost… a testament to the team who… built and operated this machine and its payloads, to push the capabilities and knowledge of humanity one small step further.” These were the last words sent by the Blue Ghost lunar lander, just before it shut down for the final time on the surface of the Moon. It’s a message of perseverance, pride, and purpose—and it resonates deeply with us at Dunmore. Why? Because our materials helped protect Blue Ghost from the unforgiving extremes of space. Tamika Edwards, QA Technician at Dunmore, shares her favorite piece of advice: "Take the meat from the bone!" “Life is full of experiences. Some will lift you up, while others may challenge you. No matter what, always take what you need from each situation to grow, learn, and move forward. That’s the ‘meat.’ The ‘bone,' the negativity, the distractions, the things that don’t serve you, leave it behind. If you focus too much on the bone, it can hold you back or even choke you. Manufacturing has shaped my career in so many ways, but the people have made the biggest impact. This Women’s History Month, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women who have guided, supported, and inspired me along the way. Yes! So women have helped me on my journey! They have supported me, challenged me, questioned me, forgiven me, led me, educated me, been patient with me, been impatient with me, told me truths, and challenged me to be a better manager and leader. I am committed to listening to the voices of everyone I work with - but I am especially tuned in to the women in manufacturing. Liz Cardenas’ story is a powerful reminder of the resilience and dedication that women bring to manufacturing every day. Stepping into a traditionally male-dominated space isn’t always easy, but Liz—like so many others—continues to break barriers and redefine what’s possible. And I am humbled by her grit and ever-present positive attitude. She sets a great example for me.
