We had a fantastic BlackRock Competition final yesterday, with 9 teams presenting to BlackRock representatives. We're coming off a week of great DFE events. On Thursday, DFE Teaching Director Emma Rasiel led a conversation with Duke alum Ashok Varadhan, Co-head of Global Banking and Markets at Goldman Sachs. He answered questions about innovations he's seen during his career so far; important skills for young people to cultivate as they enter finance careers; and his daily approach to following global events. On Wednesday evening, upperclassmen led the last of two sessions for sophomores designed to demystify the finance recruiting process. They gave a detailed breakdown of industry roles and offered extensive advice on networking and interview prep, in addition to fielding questions. In the next couple of weeks, upperclassmen who have accepted or done finance internships will lead two sessions designed to help sophomores be successful in the finance internship recruitment process. It's a wrap on this summer's Duke in London Finance program! This fabulous group of rising sophomores and juniors immersed themselves in two financial economics courses while getting outside the classroom for visits to investment firms, tours of London neighborhoods and the Tate Modern, a trip to Oxford, and a play in London's West End. And on the weekends, they traveled around Europe. What a 6 weeks! ????

This summer's Duke in London Finance students are experiencing much cooler weather than those of us in the States not to mention lectures from alumni, historical tours, and other group outings around the city. Enjoy your last few weeks abroad (and the need to layer), all!
