关于我们
The Duke Financial Economics Center (DFE) seeks to empower Duke undergrads of all majors with finance education, skills training, and networking opportunities for success in finance careers. Established in 2010 under the directorship of Professor Emma Rasiel and Duke alumnus/long-time Wall Street professional John Caccavale, DFE offers finance courses in the Duke Economics Department and extracurricular programs. DFE has a core group of finance-focused faculty who teach a range of topics, from global capital markets to behavioral finance. Students from all areas of academic interest are invited to participate in our extracurricular activities, which include competitions, lunch & learn sessions with finance professionals, a mock interview program that prepares students for internship recruiting, and a Wall Street mentor program for sophomores. Our study away programs in New York and London help students learn about finance in context as they attend site visits at major financial institutions, listen to guest speakers from the financial markets, and are mentored by young alumni in the industry.

We're coming off a week of great DFE events. On Thursday, DFE Teaching Director Emma Rasiel led a conversation with Duke alum Ashok Varadhan, Co-head of Global Banking and Markets at Goldman Sachs. He answered questions about innovations he's seen during his career so far; important skills for young people to cultivate as they enter finance careers; and his daily approach to following global events. On Wednesday evening, upperclassmen led the last of two sessions for sophomores designed to demystify the finance recruiting process. They gave a detailed breakdown of industry roles and offered extensive advice on networking and interview prep, in addition to fielding questions. Stay tuned to the DFE Email List (https://lnkd.in/dgi2wiJU) and Fall Events & Programs page (https://lnkd.in/d7wFW-5q) for upcoming events!

It's a wrap on this summer's Duke in London Finance program! This fabulous group of rising sophomores and juniors immersed themselves in two financial economics courses while getting outside the classroom for visits to investment firms, tours of London neighborhoods and the Tate Modern, a trip to Oxford, and a play in London's West End. And on the weekends, they traveled around Europe. What a 6 weeks! ????
