It was a pleasure to collaborate with Support to Succeed and representatives from New York Life to co-host The Bridge, an event we recently held for professionals pursuing careers in financial services. We heard about careers at #NewYorkLife, learned how Support to Succeed helps with licensing, and shared how Duet can fit into the professional development journey towards becoming a #CertifiedFinancialPlanner.

Last week, we hosted a series of discussions for the? Boston book launch of #JobMoves. Throughout a lively 90 minutes we heard from Job Moves co-authors Michael Horn and Ethan Bernstein, Duet alumni Janine Pires and Selena Adams, Duet Director of Career Services Angele Maraj, policy expert & AVP in the Education Practice at Jobs for the Future (JFF), Kyle Hartung and Duet COO Michele Dow Carroll. ?? Here are a few key insights that we’re still talking about in the Duet office: ?? For an individual: #Career decisions are about much more than a paycheck or title—they’re rooted in understanding what truly drives us. Janine and Selena shared how they worked with Duet’s career team to intentionally navigate their career journeys with clarity and focus on what really matters to them, a central focus in the book Job Moves. ?? For employers: Focusing on retention means moving away from thinking of hiring as a transaction—hiring someone solely to do a job description listed on a piece of paper—and instead consider the deeper skills, and goals that motivate a person to succeed in the role and contribute meaningfully to the organization. ?? For policymakers: How can we rethink career progress to reflect the realities of today’s (as we know it) nonlinear career paths? And how do we shift from viewing job seekers as merely economic assets to recognizing their individual goals, skills, and potential? To everyone who joined us, thank you! All, let’s keep the conversation going—what’s your take? Drop your thoughts below ?? and explore more by getting your copy of Job Moves: 9 Steps for Making Progress in Your Career here: www.jobmoves.com Many thanks to our event Sponsor HR Knowledge.
