The U.S. Department of the Treasury has affirmed that all 11 CDFI Fund programs are legally required under federal law. The Treasury’s report to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) offers reassurance following the recent executive order targeting “non-statutory” programs — a move that raised concerns about the future of CDFI-driven support for rural, urban, and Native communities. Additionally, it reinforces the legal and economic foundation of the CDFI Fund, which plays a vital role in expanding access to capital and advancing economic development across the country. This is a win for community lenders, and the communities they serve. Congratulations to the Bongards plants in Perham and Norwood for both being recognized by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) for wastewater operational excellence in 2024! To receive this recognition, a facility must demonstrate consistent compliance with monitoring, operations, and maintenance requirements; submit accurate, timely reports to the MPCA; and employ staff certified by the MPCA in wastewater operations. Minnesota has approximately 1,600 municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities. 676 of those facilities were reviewed, with 235 qualifying for the outstanding operations recognition.
