We are excited to introduce Jon, our new Civil Department Manager! Jon brings nearly 50 years of experience as a civil engineer, specializing in water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection. His journey began at Larkin & Associates, where his father, a sanitary engineer, introduced him to the world of sewers, treatment plants, water tanks, and more—setting him on the path to becoming a civil engineer. After earning his degree from Kansas University, Jon went on to work at Black & Veatch, Burns & McDonnell, and later pursued independent consulting. These experiences helped him develop expertise in water and wastewater master plans, GIS development, mapping, infrastructure management, facilities design, water quality, and river projects. Notably, Jon was one of the first project managers on the Long-Term Control Plan for Kansas City, MO. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to projects in 46 U.S. states and 7 countries, leaving a significant impact both locally and globally. In just a few months with DuBois Consultants, Jon’s contributions have already made a positive difference, and we are incredibly grateful for the exceptional work he has done.

For 80 years, the Main Water Treatment Facility has served the City of Wichita, KS, but due to population growth and aging infrastructure, the City has worked to replace it with the new Northwest Water Treatment Facility (NW WTF). Last Friday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the new 120 MGD facility to celebrate the project’s successful completion, and DuBois Consultants had the great pleasure of being in attendance. This state-of-the-art and future-proof water treatment facility will impact up to 550,000 families and homes across the city and surrounding areas, and its design includes fully redundant systems to prevent outages. Our team had the privilege to work on the NW WTF, starting in 2019, and provided structural design, peer reviews, and construction administration services. Thank you to City of Wichita Kansas, HDR, Burns & McDonnell, and Alberici Constructors for allowing our team to work on such a monumental and impactful project for the City of Wichita, KS.

As part of the Smart Sewer Program, KC Water set out to reduce the combined sewer overflow within the Lower Blue River Basin by implementing a new Outfall 055 relief sewer. DuBois Consultants served as Engineer of Record and worked on the project from design through construction phases. Our civil engineering team performed an evaluation and design of alternatives for the former Outfall 055 relief sewer and assisted with construction administration services. Now that the project is coming to a close, take a look at the improvements made to the area. Thank you to KC Water for the opportunity to participate in another impactful project for the Kansas City area.
