A big thank you to Lisa M. Porter, PhD, OTD, OTR/L Assistant Professor Pacific University | School of Occupational Therapy and Caroline Harkins McCarty, PhD, OTR/L | Pacific University for inviting my staff and I to provide a two-hour presentation to Pacific University’s occupational therapy class on DDA’s history and application with academics and professionals. As occupational therapy students, understanding the power of peer support and community involvement can enhance their approach to holistic patient care, providing hope and recovery to those navigating the complex landscape of dual diagnosis. "Dual Diagnosis Anonymous (DDA): A Journey of Hope and Recovery" Founded in 1996, Dual Diagnosis Anonymous (DDA) is a peer-run, peer-delivered recovery organization dedicated to supporting individuals and their families affected by mental health, addiction, and substance use disorders. Over the years, DDA has developed a unique 12-Step Plus 5 program, which emphasizes the critical role of peer support, medication management, community education, and engagement through countless focus groups, surveys, and personal testimonies, DDA has demonstrated that recovery is not only possible but expected. Our peer support groups, facilitated by trained Outreach Specialists and volunteers, provide a safe space for sharing, growth, and connection. Our success is evident in the numerous lives transformed by our program, including the expansion of DDA meetings both nationally and internationally. Thank you, Carolyn Persang, Brenda Sullavan, and Therese Arnott, for your heart shared testimonies and expertise proving that we can and do recover!

关于我们
Dual Diagnosis Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experiences, strengths, weaknesses, feelings, fears, and hopes with one another to resolve our dual diagnosis and/or learn to live at peace with unresolved problems. The only requirement for membership in DDA is a desire to develop healthy, addiction-free lifestyles. Since 1996, we have been serving people with severe and persistent mental health and/or substance use challenges and their families in Oregon, numerous states, and worldwide. We provide support and fellowship to help overcome and start on the road to recovery from dual diagnosis.

DDA’s 17th Annual Bowling Bonanza! Over ninety DDA members and their families came together for a few hours of fun, laughter, and recovery support! This event brought together like-minded people who prove that not only is recovery from mental health and addiction challenges possible, but with the help of DDA and our extended family, it is expected! A big shout-out to OHA & Clackamas County partnerships, to Milwaukie Bowl, DDA’s Board of Directors, DDA’s staff, DDA’s volunteers, and most importantly, DDA members and their families for coming together and supporting each other as one! Once in DDA, always in DDA!

It truly takes a village of likeminded peers to come together and help those in need! We were honored to be amongst hundreds that showed you at Punx in the Park in Salem to provide hope, resources, and support to at risk youths. So many resources such as housing, food, clothing, medical assistance, treatment, and peer support through a multitude of combined services all in a place where we meet the homeless at-risk youth all with the attraction of clean and sober fun and music! A big shout out to the Founders of Punx in the Park Haily & James and to DDA’s dream team and Board member for being part of this community solution!?
