When Du Nord's owner, Chris Montana, first started the?distillery, he showed up at an industry event of over 1,000 people, and he found himself to be the only Black person in the auditorium. He didn't see any Black-owned businesses in the distilling industry. Since that day, over ten years ago, there are now hundreds of Black-owned brands including Loft and Bear, Black Momma Vodka, Sorel Liqueur,?Delta Dirt Distillery, Tom Bullock's Spirits, Painted Stave Distilling, Brough Brothers, Anteel Tequila, Ten to One Rum, Uncle Nearest,?LS Cream Liqueur, Victor George Vodka, Birdie Brown, Den of Thieves, Hella Cocktail Co, Fort?Mosé 1738, and so many more!
