Have you read about the DTLA 2040 Community Plan? DTLA Alliance EVP Nick Griffin commented on its significance. "DTLA 2040 provides a blueprint for the next phase of Downtown’s evolution, envisioning a city within the City of LA with 100,000 new housing units and 175,000 new residents over the next two decades. The plan increases Downtown’s overall capacity for development and encourages more housing by adding incentives and eliminating requirements, expanding adaptive reuse and providing bonuses for affordable housing, open space, and community facilities." As our DTLA Alliance team worked with organizations across the city in the aftermath of last month’s wildfires, we looked to the heart of our city and saw the opportunity to provide a place, fairly close to home, for a soft landing while those displaced take time to rebuild. "Nearly 100,000 people already call DTLA home, and with its unparalleled mix of market-rate and affordable apartments, lofts, and condos, and a current vacancy rate of around 10%, Downtown is one of the only parts of the city that has enough housing available to accommodate an influx of new residents. In fact, Downtown would?welcome them with open arms!
