The City of Jacksonville Downtown Investment Authority is seeking its next Chief Executive Officer. The search firm led by Todd Jorgenson has posted this opportunity. This is the City’s lead role helping redevelop and revitalize Downtown Jacksonville, Florida. DIA is led by a 9 member board of directors. During the preliminary discussions as reported by Jacksonville Business Journal, DIA board members expressed to the search firm that they would prefer “fresh eyes,” an outsider to Downtown Jacksonville. They believe the best candidate should be a visionary with some government experience as well as urban planning and real estate development. The search will include local, regional and national searches, casting a wide net for potential candidates. Please share with qualified individuals.

Exciting news for Downtown Jacksonville! Gateway Jax is teaming up with Steve Palmer from The Indigo Road Hospitality Group to restore the historic Ambassador Hotel at 420 North Julia Street. Originally opened in 1924, this Georgian Revival gem will be transformed into a luxurious 100+ room hotel, complete with a high-end restaurant, bar, and conference space. The revitalization is part of the larger Pearl Square development, which will bring 1,250 new residential units, vibrant public spaces, and retail to the area. Our skyline got a "glowing" new addition today as CSX unveiled new signage on their 17-story headquarters downtown on the Northbank. The digital signs can change color and display moving images day or night. "The new signage on the CSX headquarters is a beautiful addition to our downtown skyline and it is sure to become a staple in photographs for years to come," said Mayor Donna Deegan. "I look forward to seeing it again this evening, when it is all lit up."

Steps away from Downtown Jacksonville's City Center, in the Eastside, the Union Terminal Warehouse has officially reopened as a mixed-use development after a $72 million renovation! The 330,000-square-foot redevelopment has transformed the former dry goods distribution center into 228 loft-style apartments, a rooftop terrace, 43 small business offices, 11 flex spaces, Vantage Point Coffee and space for a future dining concept. Congratulations to the City of Jacksonville, Downtown Investment Authority, Columbia Ventures and everyone involved in this incredible project!
