We are excited to announce that we have been selected to Cohort 6 of GCxN! We’ve been awarded $250,000 in non-dilutive funding to work with Shell and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to develop a Life Cycle Assessment that will generate valuable emissions and energy data around our Clearwash process. Visit our website to learn more about how we're decarbonizing concrete with bioaggregates made from forestry and agriculture residues. ? Decarbonizing concrete, but from an aggregates lens
关于我们
DTE Materials is decarbonizing concrete via the aggregates which makes up ~80% of concrete volume. DTE manufactures a carbon negative bioaggregate derived from forest and agriculture residues through its Clearwash process, which makes cellulose and concrete chemistries compatible. Our flagship product, the StoneFiber block, replaces sand aggregates to make concrete products lighter weight and lower embodied carbon without compromising on cost. DTE Materials unlocks the potential for a waste fiber economy through its patented ClearWash process: https://dtematerials.com/whitepaper/ $1.5M+ raised to date We are currently manufacturing our prototypes at scale, and will have our official ASTM certified spec sheet by Q4 2024. Our flagship product, StoneFiber, will be deployed as Concrete Masonry Units that are 30-40% lighter with 43-78% lower embodied carbon (compared to Ordinary Portland Cement) depending on the structural rating.

Excited to announce that DTE Materials has been selected by ENERGYWERX and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for research funding. This voucher program will be used for continued engineering and scaleup of our Clearwash process including equipment selection and procurement, and supply chain optimization. This engineering work will be led by Sharon Tracy, PhD. The timing of this award syncs up well with our pilot trials at National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and preliminary engineering completed by ideaCHEM. One step closer to bringing biomass aggregates to market for decarbonizing concrete!
?? The latest Voucher Recipients have confirmed their partnerships with Voucher Providers—worth over $20M! Congratulations to the organizations that have been matched through DOE’s Voucher Program! The U.S. DOE Office of Technology Transitions, in collaboration with the Offices of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED), Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management | U.S. Department of Energy, and Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), previously announced that over 170 companies, tribes, and local governments will receive support to advance commercialization of clean energy technologies in the form of in-kind DOE-funded vouchers. The #VoucherProgram is designed to grant small businesses, local governments, and other non-traditional partners access to the vetted resources and expertise they need to bring their clean energy technologies and projects to the next level. In this recent round, the program offered 7 different Vouchers support across many capabilities ranging from testing facility access to trusted third-party subject matter expertise. I was recently interviewed about DTE Materials upcoming piloting work at National Renewable Energy Laboratory as a part of our GCxN grant. We are piloting our Clearwash process to get valuable data points on performance, cost, energy input, and polymeric coproduct valorization. In tandem with trialing on a demonstration-scale hydrolysis reactor, we are also working with NREL researchers to put together a LCA of our system from these findings. Clearwash is a water-based biorefinery process for converting ag and forestry waste into carbon negative aggregates for concrete products. Working with Shell and NREL will speed up our time to market significantly, and will allow us to accurately model COGS and carbon accounting. We installed our first pilot DTE Materials! Privileged to participate and pilot our Stonefiber blocks at the Demo Hut at University of California, Davis. This structure combined 11 novel building technologies to serve as a standing demonstration for how the future of construction in California can incorporate low embodied carbon materials and products. This event brought together policy makers, utility partners, developers, GCs, architects, and building material startups to discuss the future of housing and buildings in CA. ?? Our Stonefiber blocks were installed to mimic a perimeter masonry fence for the structure. Each block has 2 dry lbs of wood waste that has been treated by our water-based Clearwash process. These blocks are 8 lbs lighter, have 40% less sand, and ~30% less embodied carbon than a traditional cinderblock. ?? Thank you to David Warner, Megan FitzGerald Thomas Azwell, Mike Lindheim and the entire Redhorse Constructors, Inc and all of the collaborators that made this event possible. Visit www.thedemohut.org to see the full list and schedule a tour!??? Tanner J Jolly Steve Burrows CBE BSc(Hons) PE CEng FICE FASCE MIStructE LEED-AP George Reimann Bruce J. Christensen
