With the rise of generative AI and the continuous evolving of the high-tech industries, how can we make meaningful impact by applying technical tools towards societal impact and social good causes? The 6th Annual Datathon for Social Good is a data-focused hackathon organized by UC Berkeley student organizations - Data Science Society at Berkeley, Big Data at Berkeley, DataStory Consulting, Open Project, and Computer Science Undergraduate Association (CSUA). The Datathon aims to engage with students from any field of study who are driven by positive impact, are interested in learning from professionals in the tech for good industry, and who love a good challenge. This year's Datathon is focused on tackling various Human Rights and accessibility issues that people face around the world and has several competition tracks available for competitors. Yesterday's "Careers in Data Science Panel" was a huge success! We’d like to express our gratitude to the incredible panelists who shared their insights and expertise, providing all of us with valuable advice on navigating careers in data science, as well as all of the students who were at the event. It was inspiring to hear about the diverse career paths and opportunities in the field, as well as the real-world applications of data science that are shaping industries today. DSS is excited to bring this amazing opportunity in collaboration with Women in Big Data and HackerEarth to the UC Berkeley community this semester! Students from UC Berkeley will be teamed up with a DSS member and a WiBD industry professional to work on one of two projects.
