VA BEATS NON-VA HOSPITALS IN CMS STAR RATINGS FOR CARE QUALITY AND SATISFACTION... FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW Veterans who receive VA care can benefit from some of the highest performing hospitals and clinics in the nation. The scores are in: 58% of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals score either 4 or 5 stars out of 5 in CMS's Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings, compared to only about 41% of non-VA hospitals. Likewise, 79% of VA hospitals score either 4 or 5 stars in the HCAHPS Patient Satisfaction Star Ratings, compared to about 41% of non-VA hospitals. Any Veteran in America can look up all of their care options right in their neighborhood on CMS Care Compare (https://lnkd.in/dfSshseP). Among the list of civilian hospitals, VA medical centers will also appear right alongside them, so that Veterans can directly compare care quality, patient safety, and patient satisfaction among ALL of their options. And although these star ratings focus on hospital care, VA outpatient clinics just registered an all-time high 92.0% of Veterans saying that they trust VA for their health care needs. We are proud of our outcomes for Veterans, and I am proud of our care teams for consistently putting Veterans first.
