Today marks the conclusion of our NVIDIA Fundamentals of Deep Learning workshop series! ?? Over the past month, we’ve had an incredible journey with over 150 students joining us in person and 200 online. Kicking things off on Halloween (in costume, of course! ??), we’re proud of the enthusiasm and dedication shown by University of Florida students eager to learn about AI and deep learning over these past four weeks. Hosted in none other than the NVIDIA Auditorium at Malachowsky Hall, this workshop series was a collaborative effort between UF Data Science & Informatics and UF Information Technology (UFIT), and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible teaching and support from Matt Gitzendanner. We are sure that your expertise and passion have inspired many future data scientists and AI enthusiasts. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this series such a success! Many participants earned an official NVIDIA certification as a testament to their hard work. We can’t wait to see how you apply what you’ve learned and we look forward to all the exciting opportunities ahead! ??

Thank you to everyone who joined us for ShellHacks 2024! ? We’re incredibly proud of all the students who attended this year’s ShellHacks at Florida International University, a 3-day event and Florida's Largest Hackathon, organized by INIT FIU. Out of 872 participants, we would like to give a huge shoutout to our three amazing UF teams that received awards: ?? Lotion AI/AR – Winners of the Microsoft, Assurant, and Major League Hacking Best Domain Name Awards as well as Google's Honorable Mention! ?? Prospera – Winners of the Vanguard Award! ?? DinoJourney – Voted Most Popular project! We are also excited to announce that UF Data Science & Informatics was a proud community partner of this year’s ShellHacks. Thanks to our efforts, we were able to take 56 UF students down to Miami to compete! A special thank you to the UF Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering for their financial support.
