After 85 years, we still believe every community deserves great architecture, no matter where you live and work. We're based in Minnesota; we have 25 licensed/accredited professionals and are registered in 16 states and 40 Indigenous Nations. DSGW’s design is personalized to culture and place—whether for a Tribal clinic or a visionary new high school and career academy. We value connection to people and places—to the regional economies and cultural histories of the clients that we serve. DSGW stands out by infusing state-of-the-art planning, design, and architecture with a distinct focus on local history and culture. This unique approach is evident in our work, whether for a corporate client or a regional hospital system. We hold these values because our firm originated in a small community with deep ties to the land and its resources. Our founders knew many of their clients personally. Today, we also get to know our clients and their communities—especially after years of collaboration with them. This local knowledge and listening can make all the difference in building support for a community referendum or reaching out to all stakeholder groups—including people who never thought their input mattered. We design for wellness and sustainability and use research-based architecture in an effort to achieve the best outcomes.

When Spero Academy set out to create a new campus in Brooklyn Park, they entrusted DSGW to design a space as unique and adaptive as their mission. Together, we brought to life a vibrant, inclusive environment tailored to meet the needs of students with various disabilities, helping them learn, grow, and succeed. ?? A Purpose-Driven Campus: From the playful learning stairs in the entry commons to the thoughtfully designed physical therapy room, every detail of Spero Academy was crafted with care. Natural light floods the building, creating welcoming spaces, while bold yet calming colors balance stimulation and tranquility. ?? Safety and Accessibility First: Student safety was at the forefront of this design. With passive and active strategies, specialized materials, and storm-resistant features like the gymnasium-storm shelter, this campus ensures peace of mind for students, staff, and families alike. ?? Designed by Listening: Collaboration was key. Our team toured Spero’s first campus, held in-depth meetings with educators and staff, and worked closely with specialized consultants to ensure every space—from the teacher’s lounge and outdoor deck to the enclosed running track—meets the needs of its users. ?? A School That Inspires: This campus is more than a school; it’s a place where students can grow, play, and thrive. The 28,500 entertainment destination is designed to cater to a diverse clientele, from casual diners and bar patrons to those seeking unique event experiences. Setting it apart from the competition is its vibrant array of activities, encompassing pickleball, cornhole, darts, arcade games, and axe throwing. The building's striking aesthetic is achieved through a captivating blend of materials, including wood, steel, precast concrete, custom artwork, stone, glass, and metal.
