Traditional supply chains are a thing of the past. Customers, not static inventory models, now dictate fulfillment, demanding speed, flexibility, and seamless experiences. To stay competitive, businesses must embrace next-gen omnichannel distribution & logistics, powered by real-time tracking, last-mile efficiency, and agile operations. Do you believe a strong partner ecosystem is key to navigating these shifts? Read on about how DSCI’s Managing Director, Marko Kovacevic, does in his new Supply Chain Management Review Magazine article: https://lnkd.in/gwJA6hFH

Software Development Is a Supply Chain Process When we think about supply chains, we often picture physical goods moving through a network—from raw materials to finished products. But if we step back, software development follows a remarkably similar pattern. Raw Materials → Development → Delivery → Maintenance Raw Materials: Just like manufacturers need quality raw materials, software teams rely on clean, structured requirements, data, and architecture. Ambiguous specs? That’s like receiving defective parts—everything downstream suffers. Production & Assembly: The software development lifecycle (coding, testing, integrating) mirrors a production line. Efficient pipelines (CI/CD, DevOps) ensure that work moves smoothly, minimizing defects and delays. Quality Control: In traditional supply chains, QA ensures products meet standards before they reach the market. In software, rigorous testing (unit, integration, security) prevents costly failures post-launch. Logistics & Distribution: Just like goods need efficient transport, software needs smooth deployment. Release management, cloud delivery, and API integrations determine how well software reaches users. Aftermarket Support & Maintenance: No supply chain ends at delivery. Just as spare parts and customer service keep products functioning, software requires patches, updates, and user support to stay relevant and secure. Why Does This Matter? Bottlenecks Hurt Output: A weak link—whether in supplier disruptions or inefficient DevOps—slows everything down. Visibility & Coordination Are Key: Just as supply chains require end-to-end visibility, software teams need clear governance, collaboration, and real-time monitoring. Optimization Drives Competitiveness: In both fields, the best organizations continuously refine processes, leverage automation, and upskill their teams. This is exactly the kind of challenge I address in my work helping global supply chain organizations navigate digital transformation. From aligning organizational structures with technology adoption to designing governance models that break down silos, I focus on making transformation tangible, scalable, and sustainable. At the same time, I support startups as they build the foundations for growth—helping them develop the right strategies, technologies, and talent models to scale efficiently. Whether you're a large enterprise rethinking your digital roadmap or an early-stage company optimizing for speed and resilience, the key is the same: treat software development like a supply chain, and you'll unlock efficiency, agility, and long-term success. Where have you seen supply chain thinking improve software development? #DigitalTransformation #SupplyChain #SoftwareDevelopment #Leadership #Startups

With global trade uncertainties on the rise, companies are rethinking their manufacturing and sourcing strategies. The “China +1” approach—diversifying production beyond a single region—is gaining momentum as businesses seek to reduce risk and unlock new opportunities. The optimal sourcing model is always evolving with shifting economic and geopolitical conditions. Learn more about how augmenting sourcing strategies helps build a resilient supply chain in DSCI’s Managing Director, Marko Kovacevic’s new Supply Chain Management Review Magazine article: https://lnkd.in/gwJA6hFH #SupplyChainResilience #DigitalSupplyChain #FutureOfSupplyChains #DSCI #DSCInsights
