关于我们
Danbury Student and Business Connection (DSABC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that fosters collaboration among Danbury Public Schools, local businesses and the community to promote lifelong learning and the successful transition of youth into society and the workforce. The mission of DSABC is to help Danbury Public School students achieve personal and academic success through school based mentoring and scholarship programs. The One-on-One Mentoring Program provides positive adult role models to at-risk students, grades K - 12, in thirteen elementary schools, three middle schools and three high schools. The One-on-One Mentoring Program matches a supportive and caring adult who assists students to succeed in school by developing a one-on-one relationship. Mentors serve as a positive adult role model providing moral support and encouragement. Mentors typically spend one hour a week with their mentee. The objective of the program is to improve academic performance, attendance, behavior, attitude toward school, and most importantly, self-esteem and motivation. The long-term goal is dropout prevention. The Workplace Learning E-Mentoring Program matches an industry mentor with students enrolled in the Early College Opportunity Program (DECO) at Danbury High School. DECO is designed to provide participating students with opportunities to prepare for postsecondary education and career readiness. Students enrolled in the program can earn college credits, and students who graduate from DECO will not only earn a high school diploma but an associate degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College. Mentors provide guidance and advice on developing workplace skills and work together on assigned activities via an online platform and several face to face meetings throughout the year. The long-term goal is for students to obtain internships and enter into the workforce with the necessary skills for success.

?? Resource Spotlight: The Power of Journaling ?? At DSABC, we believe that taking time to reflect can lead to personal growth and enhanced learning. Journaling is a powerful practice for students to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. ? Why Journaling? Self-Discovery: Journaling encourages students to explore their emotions and identify their strengths and areas for improvement. Goal Tracking: It helps students set and monitor personal and academic goals, making their journey more meaningful. Mindfulness Practice: Reflecting on daily experiences cultivates mindfulness, reducing stress and enhancing well-being. ?? How to Get Started: Set aside time: Dedicate a few minutes each day or week for journaling. Choose a prompt: Start with questions like “What made me happy today?” or “What challenges did I face this week?” Be honest: Encourage students to write freely without worrying about grammar or spelling. This is their space to express themselves! Let's inspire our students to reflect, grow, and succeed through the art of journaling! #DSABC #Journaling #StudentSuccess #Mentorship #Mindfulness
