As #HurricaneFrancine heads to the Louisiana coast, our members are preparing to support for post-storm recovery: The Greater New Orleans Foundation has activated its Disaster Response & Restoration Fund and is now accepting donations (https://lnkd.in/ghkCHXC). The Foundation is also immediately awarding grants to local nonprofits in preparation. Grants were provided to Via Link, which provides crisis support via its 211 line, and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, which provides emergency food and water. The Foundation for Louisiana's standing disaster fund is accepting donations, as it is preparing for post-storm efforts in coordination with partners, including Indigenous coastal communities and nonprofits serving the areas expected to be bear the brunt of the storm. Donations can be made to the Freedom Forward Fund here: https://lnkd.in/g6yXnrUR. We are grateful that our members are in Louisiana communities, working together with nonprofit organizations and our neighbors. We hope all stay safe during this storm and will be sharing more updates in the following days.

Know they will make a substantial profit ? Strategically plan which relationships they want to deepen/develop at the event… Then and only then is it worth doing! Otherwise, the org is better off devoting the time it would have taken to produce a fundraising event and use that time to develop, grow, and steward major gift relationships instead.
