As most people know, Drive Right closed its doors in Southaven, MS at the close of 2023. While hopes of re-opening my business were high, God had another plan. I have recently been blessed by St. Francis Hospital, where I am now working as a Nurse Practitioner. Nonetheless, the Drive Right sabbatical will continue in the realm of research. I am happy to announce I have been accepted to UT's PhD research program. My goal is to research the prevalence of obesity in commercial drivers, implicate obesity as the primary cause for obstructive sleep apnea, present evidence-based findings to support the use of weight loss as an adjuvant therapy for the treatment of commercial drivers with OSA, and highlight how stakeholders could capitalize on the incorporation of weight management into their healthcare plan. After I convince the FMCSA to implement new medical guidelines into their Federal Code of Regulations, Drive Right may re-open as a multimodal corporation, providing healthcare needs for logistics supply chains across the country.
