Over the past few decades, the incarceration rate for women has grown twice as fast as that of men, yet resources for their reentry remain scarce. Many formerly incarcerated women face limited access to education and job opportunities, making it even harder to rebuild their lives. ?? Unemployment rates are staggering—ranging from nearly 30% for white women to 60% for Black women without a high school diploma. ?? The demand for jobs requiring only a high school education is shrinking, leaving many without options for sustainable employment. ?? "Endless punishment for young people needs to end." Our fellow Glen delivered powerful testimony at the Criminal Justice budget hearing, bringing the room to tears and earning a round of applause. His words are a reminder that justice should be provided before young people ever enter the system—not just after. We need resources, opportunities, and real support to break cycles of incarceration and create a future where second chances aren’t needed because young people never lose their first one.
