Today is the UN-designated International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Marking this day is an invitation for governments, organizations, and individuals to raise public awareness as violence against women and girls—VAWG—remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma, and shame (Source: UN Women.)? ? Issued by the UN General Assembly in 1993, the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women defines it as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women.”? ? Violence against women and girls remains one of the most prevalent and pervasive human rights violations in the world. Globally, an estimated 736 million women—almost one in three—have been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence, at least once in their life. (Source: UN Women.)? ? Dress for Success supports women of all backgrounds and experiences and rejects any form of violence or discrimination. Find our DEIA statement and learn ways to engage at dressforsuccess.org.?

Native Women's Equal Pay Day is recognized on November 21st. On average, Native American women working full time, are paid only 58 cents for every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men (Source: equalpaytoday.org). This gap hinders economic mobility, financial stability, and generational wealth. At Dress for Success? Worldwide, we believe in the power of women, their potential, and the urgent need to bridge the pay gap that disproportionately impacts women of various racial backgrounds. This staggering reality reflects the systemic inequities Women of Color face in the workplace, from pay disparities to limited access to career advancement opportunities.? We stand with women of all walks of life by providing the tools, support, and access to networks they need to thrive in their careers.? Join us in advocating for pay equity, raise awareness, and work toward a future where all women can succeed, regardless of their background.? Continuing our month-long spotlights of Native American leaders, join us in highlighting Georgianna Lincoln, an influential Native American politician. An Alaska Native from the Tlingit and Athabascan communities, Georganna Lincoln has made significant contributions as a politician, businesswoman, and advocate for indigenous rights. She served in the Alaska House of Representatives and later the Alaska State Senate, where she was a strong voice for indigenous communities, championing education, healthcare, and environmental protection. As one of the first Alaska Native women in the state legislature, she broke barriers, paving the way for greater indigenous representation. Beyond her legislative work, she has also been a prominent figure in the Alaska Native community. Lincoln’s dedication has helped secure native land rights, cultural preservation, and resources for Alaska Native people, cementing her legacy as a trailblazer and advocate. Let’s continue to honor Native American leaders throughout November and beyond!
