Emergency Response on Victoria Island - It's what we do! On October 21st, The Dutra Group answered an urgent call from Reclamation District #2040 to tackle a critical levee failure on Victoria Island. A massive breach was allowing over 5,000 gallons of water per minute to flood nearby fields. Dutra crews quickly mobilized, deploying specialized marine equipment and transporting quarry stone from the San Rafael Rock Quarry. By 4:00 AM the next day, materials and equipment were on-site, slowing the water flow to a trickle within hours. Working tirelessly, the team constructed a retention basin and rebuilt the levee using over 5,000 tons of material—all in just 48 hours—stabilizing the levee and protecting nearby land and critical infrastructure. The Texas Transportation Commission has approved historic funding for ship channel improvement projects that will support Texas’ economic growth, increase trade, generate jobs and ensure our seaports remain competitive. Workers set up equipment to bring new sand to an area south of the pier in San Clemente, CA, on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024. Congressman Mike Levin announced funding for an additional $100 million in federal grants for work to protect the train tracks and beaches. The area will get new sand as part of a 50-year project. On Thursday, a large barge could be seen working out near the pier, where the contractor Manson Construction Co. is setting up to restart the sand replenishment project as early as next week. https://lnkd.in/eMJ7wAxc
