Refocusing Our Money Mindset ?? Here are a few moments from last week’s C.R.E.A.M. event! Such a huge step toward building a community that empowers people of all ages to reframe their financial futures. We shared our experiences with money and tapped into tough topics like scarcity mindset, cultural & socioeconomic influence, and valuable lessons we can pass on to others in our community. Spearheaded by the Harold K. Brown Knowledge, Education and Empowerment Program, the Vote and Amplify campaign is aimed at engaging with students of color — Black students, in particular — to inform them about the issues in the upcoming general election and empower them to affect change by exercising their right to vote. It’s an honor to build on the legacy of Dr. Harold K. Brown’s consistent and unwavering passion and service towards civic engagement! We had a great rollout of our “VOTE & AMPLIFY” Campaign last spring and look forward to continuing this critical effort in the fall. Working with community partners such as DREAMS+DUCATS and the San Diego Urban League Young Professionals, we will continue to educate and empower students at SDSU to become leaders in civic engagement!

So excited to attend the "Break Bread" #JOURNEYTOIMPACT panel with lovely Julianne Luong this Saturday, March 9th, from 10 am to 12 pm at the San Diego Central Library! Looking back at my first event panel ever this summer with DREAMS+DUCATS is so surreal! I loved bringing out my coworkers, friends, and family to have a conversation about the climate crisis all while San Diego was preparing for a hurricane the following days. If you live in San Diego, you know the weather is only getting more strange and severe. Evidence of climate change and social inequity is happening in real-time with communities in Southeast and South Bay San Diego rebuilding after the floods.?It is more important than ever to become involved in our communities! Thank you, DREAMS+DUCATS for believing in my story and helping me share the stage with amazing activists Keala Minna-Choe and Natalia Aguirre. A group of amazing young women came together to share their voice, views and perspective on #environmentaljustice. They spoke to challenges facing families in the San Diego/Tijuana River and inspired the audience with new ideas for how we can begin collectively contributing to a cleaner, more equitable world today. ??
