Helping teachers, leaders, and coaches create the future

关于我们

I help leaders, teachers, and coaches create the future with ease and flow. We all want a positive future that motivates us in the present. Leaning into strengths and reducing tension in relationships and in the work we do everyday, we can create that future we long for. This page is about developing a coach mindset for confidence, purpose, and fulfillment in our work, and the acceptance to get out of our own way. With such a mindset, we create the future with power, purpose, and joy.

Author of 70x7: Jesus's Path to Conflict Transformation and Dangerous Love: Transforming Fear and Conflict at Home, at Work and in the World

Join us on March 22nd at 7 pm at the Compass in Provo, Utah for an exclusive advanced viewing and discussion of?Where Peace Begins,?with producers Patrick Mason and Chad Ford, director Tay Steele, and video guests LaShawn Williams and Pastor Jamie White. Where Peace Begins,?comprises eight short films featuring therapists, pastors, mediators, and peace educators, including Thomas McConkie, Jennifer-Finlayson Fife, LaShawn Williams, Jamie White, Desmond Lomax, Imam Rashied Omar, Chad Ford, and Patrick Mason. The series addresses the inevitable conflict we feel as we navigate a world of difference. It also offers space for moral imagination to emerge when the path ahead feels unclear and peacemaking tools that offer hope. These peacemakers share their personal struggles in reconciling their own challenges at home and in the world while simultaneously assisting others in finding their own path through conflict. We are grateful for the support and guidance from Faith Matters and the?One America Movement?in producing this series. This is a ticketed event. You?can get tickets here: https://lnkd.in/g-3jf72m

I bridge divides and transform leadership teams | Engage with me to become a relational leadership wizard

I was one of four passengers in a car that had just run out of gas. We drifted off to the side of the highway. While wondering what to do, a car pulled to the shoulder in front of us. Out stepped four late teens dressed in black leather from head to toe. One of them sported a green mohawk and another a nose ring that was connected to his belt by a silver chain. (I don’t know how that worked.) They walked toward us, and I remember thinking to myself, “We’re going to die.” One of them asked what the problem was. “We’re out of gas,” one of us answered. “We can take one of you to get some gas,” one of them replied. Now, I was the oldest by at least ten years—and, theoretically at least, the most responsible. If anyone should have gone with them, it should have been me. But I looked down at my feet and didn’t say a word. “I’ll go,” I heard one of my companions say. I raised my eyes and watched the five of them trudge away together. I honestly wondered if I would ever see my friend again. But I let him go... Just 15 minutes later, the same car pulled off in front of us, and my friend jumped out with a gas can. Through the open car windows, he exchanged fist bumps, smiles, and laughs with the four kind souls I had previously thought might kill us. After their friendly exchanges, they waved to the rest of us and pulled away. I was suddenly flooded with shame. In all my life, I had never done what those four teenagers did for us. And yet, I had vilified and judged them simply because they didn’t look like me. Judgment and prejudice are pernicious things. They blind us to the good all around us as well as to the darkness within. The irony: I had thought myself better, and they worse, in the very moment they were helping and I was judging. As Black Elk, the great medicine man of the Oglala Sioux tribe, said, "It is in the darkness of their eyes that men get lost." Our judgments reveal more about us than they do about others. They reveal who we are, not who others are. And they blind us to the goodness in both friend and foe.

?????? ???????????????? ???????????? ???? ?? ?????????? (?????? ????????’?? ?????????????? ????????!) The coaching industry is growing fast, but let’s be real—?????? ???????????????? ???? ?????????? ???? ???? ?? ??????????. Coaching requires more than just a passion for helping people; it’s about a unique skill set, the right mindset, and a commitment to ???????????????? ????????????. Just because you enjoy giving advice (which, by the way, isn’t the same as coaching) doesn’t mean this is the right path for you. Here are 5 reasons why coaching might not be the best fit for everyone: 1?? ?????? ???????????????? ???? ???????????? ???????? ???????? ?????? ?????????? – Coaching isn’t about offering solutions—it’s about deep listening and asking the questions that will help someone find their own answers. If you’re the type who always needs to be the expert, coaching will feel like a challenge. 2?? ?????? ?????????? ???????? ???????? ???????????????????? ?????????? ?????? ???? ?????????????????? ???????????? – Just because you’ve experienced something doesn’t automatically mean you’re equipped to guide someone else through it. Coaching is a skill, not just a personal history. 3?? ?????? ??????’?? ???????????? ?????? ?????????????????????? – Coaching isn’t a straight path. Clients won’t always have the breakthroughs you hope for, they might ghost you, or resist change. If this leaves you feeling frustrated, coaching may not be for you. 4?? ??????’???? ???? ???? ?????? ?????????? ?????????? – Let’s be clear: "???????????? ?? ??????-???????????? ?????????? ???? ???? ????????" ???? ?? ??????????????. Coaching is a long-term journey that requires dedication. If you’re not committed to mastering the craft, you won’t last. 5?? ?????? ??????????’?? ???????? ???????? ?????? ?????????? ???????? – If you haven’t been coached or done your own self-reflection, you might risk projecting your issues onto clients. ????????-?????????????????? is a must for a great coach—it’s all about staying curious and open to learning about yourself first. Let’s get comfortable with the idea that ???????????????? ??????’?? ?????? ????????????????—and that’s perfectly fine. The coaching industry doesn’t need more coaches—it needs ???????? ?????????? ??????????????. ?? What are your thoughts?

Dr. Phil's episode is right on target about mindset. We are always in relationship with others, whether we realize it or not. Who we are is who we are with others. He also goes further and talks a bit about abuse and narcissism, more common than we realize. And, he talks about how we each have a responsibility in our relationship with ourselves. It's worth the listen. #mindset https://lnkd.in/djgxHiV7

Here is great advice: “Part of preparing a plan is preparing to leave it behind…”

I bridge divides and transform leadership teams | Engage with me to become a relational leadership wizard

Here’s what I've learned works for me and the people I work with: I plan and re-plan every speech, every workshop, and every consulting methodology. This is true even if I will be covering topics I've covered a thousand times. Why? Because the people are new. And their needs may be new. And I, hopefully, will have grown since the last time I covered the topic. A regurgitated plan is a stale plan, so I always start afresh. Even in cases where I end up doing something very close to what I have done before, it is new for me because I have rebuilt it with new people and their needs in mind. However, I've learned that once I'm with the people, my attention needs to be on them, not on my plan. Holding tightly to the plan at that point prevents me from holding tightly to the people, which is what is necessary to have a meaningful encounter. Part of preparing a plan is preparing to leave it behind. So, I always have a plan, meticulously built with others in mind. To me, that's part of actually caring. But the experience we then end up producing together is always better than anything I could have done on my own. Loving the group more than you love your plan is the most important part of the plan.
