1400 W 13th: DRAW New Offices Built in 1892 in what is now the historic West Bottoms, the Henney Buggy Building is an excellent example of reusing historical materials and spaces to create opportunities for sustainable and affordable development. This 24,000 sq ft project includes health and wellness-focused businesses on the first floor, artist studios on the second floor, and DRAW Architecture + Urban Design’s new headquarters on the third floor. DRAW is pushing the preconceived boundaries of historic, adaptive reuse by targeting embodied carbon and Net Zero energy goals for the office. Congratulations to Tianyi Han on his promotion to Senior Associate! Tianyi became a DRAW member after relocating to Kansas City. Before joining DRAW, Tianyi gained professional experience working at Atelier FCJZ and other renowned architecture offices in China and received a Master of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the South China University of Technology. Tianyi’s portfolio includes projects that span a broad spectrum of project types and scales, from boat design and fabrication to high-rise mixed-use, single-family homes, and small-scale shelter and pavilion projects. Tianyi’s designs emerge by him exploring materiality, performance, and constructability. Run For The Sea Lions! This year, DRAW had the honor of completing the Sea Lion Exhibit at the @kansascityzoo and aquarium - now you can do your part! We are excited to celebrate the 21st Annual of the Kansas City Zoo Run, “Run for the Sea Lions.” We feature a different species each year and in 2024, we offer a 4-Mile timed run/walk event as well as a 1-Mile Family Fun Run. We started our first ever Fundraising Campaign in 2020 in addition to the portions of proceeds we raise each year going to the Kansas City Zoo’s Conservation efforts.
