关于我们
Giving life should not equal a death sentence for Black women. At Dr. Shalon’s Maternal Action Project, we work to remove barriers, biases, and disparate practices that impede access to equitable, quality care for Black women and women of color. Our work is based on the life philosophy of Dr. Shalon: “I see inequity wherever it exists. I am not afraid to call it by name and work hard to eliminate it. I vow to create a better earth.” #GivingTuesday #SheIsSomeone

Dr. Shalon’s Maternal Action Project at the Day of Reckoning Conference Our founder will be speaking at the Day of Reckoning Conference, a space dedicated to truth, justice, and action for Black women. The stories of Anarcha, Lucy, and Betsey enslaved women subjected to painful gynecological experiments without anesthesia are not relics of the past. They are part of a continuum of medical abuse, neglect, and systemic disregard that still claims the lives of Black women today. Hundreds of Black women die each year from preventable pregnancy-related complications, not because their bodies fail them, but because the system does. Bias, dismissal of pain, lack of culturally safe care, and structural inequities continue to shape maternal health outcomes in ways that mirror the suffering of Anarcha, Lucy, and Betsey. At Dr. Shalon’s Maternal Action Project, we are committed to breaking this cycle. Join us in this urgent conversation and fight for a future where Black women no longer have to pay for motherhood with their lives. DrShalonsMAP.org

?? A Mother’s Heart Deserves More Care ?? Heart disease and high blood pressure do not just afflict the elderly; they are also major causes of maternal death. Every mother deserves a fighting chance. Every family deserves to stay together. ?? Have maternal health problems affected you or someone you care about? Let us discuss and raise awareness together. #HeartHealthMonth #MaternalHealthAwareness #HelpMothers #SaveMoms
