"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." As we continue to grow and learn, our choices shape the world around us. Let’s make the most of this opportunity by voting with care and reflecting on the issues that represent our values and hopes for the future. Together, let’s contribute to a brighter, more informed, and inclusive tomorrow. #DrMayaAngelou #ElectionDay #DMAFoundation

"A free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends and dips his wing in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky.? But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing." #DrMayaAngelou Continue to read "Caged Bird" and continue the pursuit of #Freedom. "If you're going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can't be erased." -Dr. Maya Angelou Today, we uplift the life, servant leadership, and legacy of Sheila Jackson Lee. She was a courageous leader, longtime Texas congresswoman, and champion of equality for all people. We extend our condolences and thoughts of comfort and strength to Congresswoman Lee's family.?- The Dr. Maya Angelou Foundation https://lnkd.in/gYjfyWED When Great Trees Fall When great trees fall, rocks on distant hills shudder, lions hunker down in tall grasses, and even elephants lumber after safety. When great trees fall in forests, small things recoil into silence, their senses eroded beyond fear. When great souls die, the air around us becomes light, rare, sterile. We breathe, briefly. Our eyes, briefly, see with a hurtful clarity. Our memory, suddenly sharpened, examines, gnaws on kind words unsaid, promised walks never taken. Great souls die and our reality, bound to them, takes leave of us. Our souls, dependent upon their nurture, now shrink, wizened. Our minds, formed and informed by their radiance,?fall away. We are not so much maddened as reduced to the unutterable ignorance?of dark, cold caves. And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed. ― Dr. Maya Angelou

I’ve seen evidence of kindness and generosity – and those have been the turning-points in my life which confirmed my own faith and my own belief in the work ethic and the possibility of being – not possibility, my?privilege?to be generous and kind. #DrMayaAngelou #Charity #DMAFoundation

"Hold those things that tell your history and protect them. During slavery, who was able to read or write or keep anything? The ability to have somebody to tell your story is so important. It says: 'I was here. I may be sold tomorrow. But know I was here.'" #DrMayaAngelou #Unity #HappyJuneteenth #DMAFoundation
