Our second annual PDX Industry Night was a huge success, bringing together students, faculty, and industry leaders for an evening of networking, collaboration, and insightful conversations. Sprawl Repair Marina Khoury of DPZ CoDESIGN shares how sprawl can be repaired by suburban retrofit and new urbanism principles. Its been a great year of efforts in Northwest Arkansas, with DPZ CoDESIGN and PlaceMakers, LLC for work with cities and PLACE Initiative, Urban Land Institute Northwest Arkansas, and The Congress for the New Urbanism on the non-profit front. Thankful for engagement from Groundwork NWA on both fronts, and continued efforts in 2025!

Public Square | Robert Steuteville Assembled, and the interior finished, with an untrained crew in approximately four days… Designed as a 16-by-16-foot two-story Accessory Dwelling Unit [ADU], fabricated in Canada, and delivered on site. Did you know that several NTBA members were the winners of the Urban Guild Design Exploration Merit Award for their ADU project? NTBA members DPZ CoDESIGN and New Amherst Homes, along with 21st Century Home, won this award for their work on the C.I.E.R.S. Log ADU, which was exhibited at the 2024 Innovative Housing Showcase managed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Policy Development and Research.

We had an amazing week at Cityscape Global in #Riyadh, where our Senior Design Principal, Paul Rodgers; and Design Principal, Lukasz Wawrzenczyk, took to the stage. Paul led a lively debate on ‘Urban Heights,’ arguing against the motion: ‘Low-Rise Buildings Represent a More Sustainable and Community-Oriented Alternative to Skyscrapers.’ Joining him were Dr. Antony Wood, as Chair, along with industry experts Mohammed Al Mohammadi from Retal, Maxime Laroussi from Urban Agency, and Marina Khoury from DPZ CoDESIGN. Lukasz delivered the keynote speech, “Gen Z is Changing the World — New-Age Retail Environments”, sharing insights into this generation's influence on the retail landscape. A key highlight of the show was our collaborative exhibition. Together with Egis’ Architecture Line firms, we showcased our global design through landmark projects from 10 Design, WW+P Architects, and Fenwick Iribarren Architects, as well as impressive regional works by U+A and Omrania.
