The DRA facilitates this mission through five goals: 1) Build a culture of authentic engagement and inclusion with Downtown’s diverse community; 2) Foster a thriving and diverse storefront economy; 3) Facilitate strategic partnerships to produce positive, balanced activations across Downtown; 4) Improve physical connectivity and accessibility within and around Downtown; 5) Position the DRA as a reliable, responsive, representative, and mission-directed.

  • ICYMI – A major bright spot in the most recent Quarterly Market Report from DRA was the big increase in monthly food and beverage sales in 2024 vs 2023. You all are really showing up for the incredible restaurants and bars across our vibrant downtown district, and it shows! Q4 saw an average of $28.7 million in food and bev sales per month — a $1.1 million increase over the same quarter in 2023. ?? Downtown Raleigh: Increased 16.3% in Q4 2024 vs 2023 ?? Glenwood South: 21.4% increase year over year, most of any district ?? Fayetteville Street District: 10% increase year over year in sales — the best year the district has seen since 2019 Let’s keep those numbers solid into the new year! Winter can be tough for our locally-owned downtown businesses and they need us to keep showing up. So tell us—where are you looking forward to having your next meal in Downrown Raleigh?

  • Downtown Raleigh's Q4 2024 in Review ?? From October to December, Downtown Raleigh experienced significant economic growth and a wave of new business openings. This progress has laid a solid foundation for the year ahead, as downtown continues to build on its positive momentum. ??? 27 storefront businesses opened in Q4, bringing total openings in 2024 to 82. There are 22 additional storefront businesses currently announced coming soon. ??? Food and beverage sales rose +16% YoY and +30% over 2019 (Wake County). Downtown had 4.6M visitor visits in Q4, up +2.4% YoY (Placer .ai) ?? Monthly hotel tax revenue rose +21% YoY (Wake County). Two new hotels—added 410 rooms, growing downtown’s total hotel room inventory by +25%. ??? 14 development projects are currently under construction—when complete they will add 1,772 residential units and 56,134 sq. ft. of retail space. ??? Downtown added 710 new residential units in 2024. Occupancy dipped slightly in Q4 as new supply was absorbed, but net absorption remained strong, with +477 more units occupied in 2024 than in 2023 (CoStar). And that's not all!
