?? Thank you to everyone who attended the presentation by Jeanette Moy, Commissioner of the NYS Office of General Services (OGS), at the Renaissance Albany Hotel yesterday. Hosted by the City's three Business Improvement Districts, the focus was on Governor Kathy Hochul's proposed budget for the fiscal year, which includes a significant $400 million investment in downtown Albany. ?? ?? This presentation provided a valuable opportunity to hear directly from OGS about the plan's impact on our community and the roadmap for the Championing Albany's Potential (CAP) initiative. We also heard from Empire State Development (ESD) leaders regarding a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued to select a firm that will develop a vision for Downtown growth over the next decade. Here are the key details we learned: ? Proposals were due on February 20, and a firm will be selected by spring 2025. ? The firm will generate a report based on its findings by the end of the year. ? The plan will require at least three modules: Public Realm & Public Safety, Economic Development & Placemaking Strategies, and Real Estate Development/Housing Opportunities. Throughout this process, there will be multiple opportunities for community members in downtown Albany to voice their opinions and ensure their interests are considered in determining how to invest these funds. Please continue to follow the Downtown Albany BID and the Office of General Services on social media for updates on this important initiative. ??
