Last week, DWC rallied behind Measure A at the #YesOnA campaign launch! ?? Affordable housing, mental healthcare, and homelessness prevention are within reach. Measure A is our chance to create a future where everyone has access to the support they need. DWC works to prevent homelessness before it starts, by utilizing evidence-based practices, and by making sure that those we house stay housed. Through our community-based housing programs, our housing navigators and case managers help participants find and secure housing, as well as provide emergency one-time funding to cover unanticipated expenses. DWC’s Workforce Development Team also helps prevent homelessness by equipping individuals with essential job skills and opportunities, empowering them to achieve the financial stability needed to secure housing. Measure A will take a proactive approach to stop homelessness before it begins, with more housing options and a fivefold increase in funding for prevention programs like emergency rental assistance, eviction defense, and programs like DWC’s. DWC has always prioritized housing, guided by the belief that homes end homelessness. ?? Through a combination of permanent supportive housing, affordable housing units, and transitional housing options, coupled with trauma-informed care and services, DWC addresses the unique challenges faced by women and gender-diverse individuals experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County. Measure A recognizes the ever-rising housing costs in LA County and seeks to address the critical risks to current and future affordable housing in our community.
