Petco Park isn't just home to the San Diego Padres, it's a powerhouse for Downtown's economic and cultural vitality. During baseball season, we see a 35% increase in average monthly foot traffic, boosting our urban neighborhoods and local businesses. That’s why we’re thrilled to support the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) in making game days more accessible for everyone. As we prepare for the 2025 Padres home opener and beyond, MTS is making it easier than ever for fans to get to Petco Park this opening weekend with frequent trolley service every 15 minutes or better before and after games. We can't wait to welcome you all back to Downtown for the 2025 season.?Plan your trip with our Downtown mobility guides:?https://lnkd.in/gzvFYRC3

Appreciate working for a company that supports worthy causes like a technology lab for the safe sleeping site at Lot O. I hope this will help folks get better connected with permanent housing, jobs and services. Always a great result with the Downtown San Diego Partnership!
Thanks to a generous grant from Cox Communications supporting digital equity, a brand-new computer hub is now available at O Lot to support our safe sleeping clients on their path to workforce development. This new space offers reliable internet access, job application support, a quiet environment for virtual interviews, and essential digital resources for those in vulnerable situations. Our goal? 1?? Offer digital literacy support to help individuals develop the essential skills needed for today’s workforce. 2?? Empower our clients with the resources and guidance needed to take steps toward lasting stability. 3?? Provide resume workshops to help individuals craft strong resumes and cover letters.

This month's board meeting was packed with insightful discussions and updates for Downtown. Thank you to our board members for their active participation and to our guest speakers for sharing their expertise. Here are some highlights: ??Alex Hempton, PMP, AICP, Technology & Innovation Deputy Director for The City of San Diego, provided an update?on how the City manages data and collaborating on leveraging that data for Downtown's success. ??Christina Bibler, Director of the Economic Development Department, and Andy Field, Director of the Parks and Recreation Department, gave us the latest?on East Village Green. On track to open at the end of 2025, Downtown's newest (and largest) park will include a two-story gym and community center, a dog park, and other recreational amenities.? ??San Diego Police Department Assistant Chief Mike Holden discussed?#Prop36 and the early success of the Downtown Response Team, a new walking patrol. Since September, the Downtown Response Team has seized 44.5 grams of fentanyl, made 105 felony arrests, and connected with local business owners to improve public safety in our urban core. San Diego thrives when every resident is supported. That’s why the Downtown San Diego Partnership Foundation is committed to enhancing the community and fostering growth through initiatives that strengthen both economic and social well-being. ? Every day, our team is on the ground, building trust and connecting individuals to shelter, services, and pathways to stability. This past year alone, we helped more than 500 individuals reunite with their support system through our Family Reunification Program, connected 1,338 people to shelter, and expanded safe sleeping options through O Lot. ? Thank you to Uptown 11 Studios, Intesa Communications Group, and everyone who helped tell this story. Learn more about our unhoused care team here: https://lnkd.in/eA5Y37Kf ? San Diego is at its best when every resident is supported. That’s the premise behind our latest short film, produced in partnership with our dear friends at Intesa Communications Group for the Downtown San Diego Partnership's annual Create the Future Awards. Uptown 11 Studios tagged along with members of the Partnership’s Unhoused Care Team, to meet the hardworking people who support and uplift our unhoused neighbors. Take a peek to meet Crystal Brown, who walks East Village day in and out providing outreach; Charles Barrett, whose future has been shaped by passing through the organization’s safe sleeping site; and, Natalie Ortiz who manages the team that makes it happen. Thanks to all of these folks for seeing the humanity in people living on the streets and for sharing their own humanity with us. Thanks so much to Josh Callery-Coyne, Sarah Brothers, Kenneth Moore, Margie Newman Tsay for your partnership on this project!

A successful Downtown is built on a commitment to improvement, and the renewal of the Clean & Safe program guarantees continued investment in enhanced services that keep our city cleaner, safer, and more vibrant. Earlier this month marked a pivotal moment for the program as we celebrated its renewal with a special signing ceremony with Mayor Todd Gloria, Downtown San Diego Partnership leaders Betsy Brennan, Justin Apger, Alonso Vivas, Ernesto Romo, Dani Garcia, Regina Nolte-Ware, Board of Director leaders Phil Rath and Douglas Korn and many long serving Clean & Safe employees (some 20+ years!). We're grateful to Downtown property owners, the Mayor, Councilmember Stephen Whitburn and his colleagues for their unanimous City Council vote, and Economic Development Director Christina Bibler and her staff, whose support has been instrumental in ensuring the continued success of this vital program. “For more than 20 years, the Clean & Safe program has played a key role in keeping Downtown San Diego a thriving destination for residents, businesses, and visitors,” said Mayor Todd Gloria. “With this renewal, we’re strengthening the services that keep our city’s core safe, clean, and a great place to live and visit. Thanks to the Downtown property owners for backing this investment—it’s making a real difference Downtown.” ?? Read more in the official press release:?https://lnkd.in/gpaRT-Zg...

Earlier this month Assemblymember Tasha Boerner celebrated International Women's Day and Women's History Month by recognizing 11 women from the 77th Assembly District at the annual Women of Impact Awards. Members of the DSDP team were on hand to celebrate the Assemblymember's selection of DSDP's own Sarah Brothers as one of this year's honorees in the Civic Engagement category. At the awards ceremony, Sarah shared the following insight about the foundation of civic engagement that has guided her career: "I've learned from my work in public service, the private sector, and now the with the Downtown San Diego Partnership that this work isn't about being the best writer or speaker - it's about being a good listener. It's about putting yourself in the shoes of the people you serve to not only better understand their perspectives, but to then engage with them in way that makes them know they are seen and heard." https://lnkd.in/g7Cwq83i

What an unforgettable night! The Create the Future Awards brought together visionaries, changemakers, and leaders, all united in their commitment to advancing progress in our urban core. Your support played a pivotal role in helping us exceed our fundraising goal in support of the DSDP Foundation and its work to address quality-of-life issues and drive meaningful change in our community. A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors, especially our title sponsor, U.S. Bank, for making this event possible. We also want to give a special shoutout to our amazing master of ceremonies, Brittny Ferguson. And of course, congratulations once again to our 2025 award recipients. Here's to the innovators creating the future! ??

A little over a year ago, Mr. Dudley found himself living on the streets of East Village and struggling with the weight of homelessness. A military veteran, Mr. Dudley had always prided himself on his resilience and determination. But the challenges of life outside had worn him down. The turning point came when Mr. Dudley connected with Crystal's outreach services. The unhoused care team jumped into action, offering housing leads and basic necessities. For the first time in months, Mr. Dudley felt he had some stability and support, and he began to actively search for housing options. As a military veteran, Mr. Dudley was eligible for the HUD-VASH program, which offers housing assistance for veterans and connected him to additional resources. Through these partnerships, Mr. Dudley found himself surrounded by a dedicated support system that was committed to helping him rebuild his life. He also found an opportunity to move into a one-bedroom house. With the support of his care network, Mr. Dudley secured a deposit and was able to move in. Today, Mr. Dudley is not only housed but also focused on his next steps. His journey from homelessness to housing is a reminder that no matter the obstacles, there is always hope.
